What is The List Festival?

•••

The List Festival is a small, boutique and cultural music and arts festival based at The Yorkshire Scare grounds in Wakefield. From July 29th to 31st 2022, it offers three carefully curated stages of music, a mouthwatering array of street food vendors and plenty of local artists doing live shows, drag queen performances and plenty more!

We are proudly small and independent with a warm and welcoming vibe. Catering towards music and art lovers of all ages with a boutique feel and bespoke look while showcasing diverse sounds in a laid back environment all within one safe area. The festival is proud to be all-inclusive: there is no discrimination to race, colour, creed or sexual orientation making it a real melting pot and a super safe environment where people are free to be themselves.

The festival has three main areas: Sin City that hosts Dottie a 1970’s airstream trailer fully kitted out with Master Sounds tech and a TPI sound system. Throughout the day it will provide everything from Balearic to House to Disco with UK favourites Crazy P, former Panorama Bar resident Prosumer, Manchester mainstay James Holroyd, plus more from Nancy Noise, Sally Rogers, Reeshy, Demi Riquisimo, J.Cub and PBR Streetgang. The icing on the cake comes in the form of Mark Farina flying in from Chicago to play his iconic mushroom jazz set!

The Forbidden Forest area is for after dark action in the woods with high end audio and striped back lighting that allows you to dance like nobody’s watching. The music reflects the surroundings; darker, deeper with an edge from the likes of Rob Mello, Lil Mark, Sean Johnston, Paramida, and Tristan da Cunha.

The Lucky Cat Cabaret area is new for 2022 and is colourful and flamboyant with an anything goes vibe. Heavy on production, celebrated radio personality JoJo will host drag acts, performances and anything her imagination can conjure during the day. As night falls, think of the spirit of ’The Paradise Garage’ with sets from Annabel Fraser, Jamie Bull, Red Laser Records, Apricot Ballroom and Buckley next to many more.

To keep you fuelled, there will be fresh pizza from Cozy P Pizza, boozy eats from Bastard’s Bistro and plant based world inspired cuisine from Honest Supper Club, with plenty of extra surprises also in store.

The List Festival is a cosy and compact gathering for cultured dancers of all ages. Do not miss.

The List Festival 2021

Here are a few words from people that attended The List festival in 2021

“I have to say The List was an excellent festival. We loved the way the organisers had gone beyond just the usual ‘music and basic facilities full stop.’ I mean, a dressing-up shop…? And a site newspaper? All free…? As a first attempt it was fantastic, and I would love to see what they could come up with if they had some extra funding. We were also impressed about how the event was so inclusive to all ages. We are both in our late sixties, but all the young people were so open and welcoming. Definitely one of our favourite events of the year, very much looking forward to next year.. Thank you.” Odgie and Miss P.

“We attended the festival and had an amazing time. It was extremely well organised with JoJo, Jacob, Tom and their team creating and enthusiastic, exciting, relaxed but very professional atmosphere. Mr Ben stall ‘wow’ so well thought out and just injected ‘fun’ into the weekend. Great mix of diverse people of all ages that we might never have met… learnt so much too… superbly pitched, great tunes particularly DINGYS, great food.. and great venue…we definitely will be attending again, can’t wait!!”

“Me, my husband and sister went to the first List Festival this Summer and it felt like the beginnings of something really special. Beautifully put together, safe, amazing music, glitter, drag queens, dress up, a fabulous and up for it crowd and really good facilities. This festival deserves to grow and thrive and we can’t wait until next year.”

“The List Festival was something more than just a music event. The festival provided very safe space for likeminded people to celebrate love to music, art, culture and each other. The blend of ages made this festival even more unique and inspirational. The creative and artistic side should be noted, free Newspaper which featured creative drawing competition, articles and ads written by Jojo. The merchandising and decorative aspect of the festival was on point and planned to smallest detail, free to use Dress Up room which allowed people to express themselves. The young artists were doing live art works, performances and dj’ing which just showed the diversity at this festival and importance of support to young artist and art expressions in general. Also, one of my friends who attended together is an International student and she been at such event for a first time. She felt loved, welcomed, inspired and received best experience of her life. The true art and music lover Boutique festival!”

“I had such an amazing time at The List festival! It’s difficult to put into words what was so good about it. Just everything! It was clear there been a huge amount of effort, thought and care gone into the set up. There seemed to be something to discover around every corner. I loved Mr Bens dress up area, and Dingys was a cool little surprise. I reinvested friendships, and made new ones…everyone there was so lovely, and in fine form for dancing! I attended with my daughter, and it felt great to have such a mix of age groups..it all seemed to come together with some musical magic. I can’t thank the organisers enough…it was epic. I feel like it’s been the talk of Leeds since, everyone seems to have heard about it, and so looking forward to another one. The forbidden forest was the cherry on the cake. To go into that part later on in the evening was brilliant…every part of it was full on excitement.  for the millionth time, thank you guys…and see you next year”

“I attended the festival the list for its launch event, wasn’t disappointed with a single thing! From the initial greeting by Jo and Jacob (running around to make sure everything was perfect) to the amazing attention (only matched by the lovely people there) to detail (dressing up hut/smiley glitter ball). Everything was carefully thought through, it was a fantastic “boutique festival” from the great bar, food vendors – but it was the music and the amazing lineup! Major Highlight was discovering the “Dance forest”. I thought it was a triumph from start to finish. Jacob, Jo Jo and Tom (& Dotty) did an amazing job. Looking forward to bringing a group of friends next year.
Ps Great glamping area! x
